May 23, 1939 – April 14, 2020
Thornell Mack Sr. was born on the 23rd of May, 1939 to the Late James Reid and Alice Mack in Cheraw, SC. He entered into eternal rest on the 14th of April, 2020 at his home in Charlotte, NC after succumbing to his illness.
Accepting Christ at an early age, he was a faithful member at Progressive Baptist Church and later Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Educated in the SC Public Schools, he later became a truck driver and traveled the country, having the ability to get you from A to B by telling him a nearby landmark.
Thornell was preceded in death by his wife, Elease Mack and two children: Donnie Ford and Sgt. William Mack Sr.; One grandson: Randal Daniels; Four sisters: Elizabeth ‘Becky Ann’ Gillespie, Shirley Ann Mack, Nellie Marie Mack, and Mary Magdalene Mack Davis; three brothers: Rev. Charles Mack, Rickett Mack, and John Robert Mack. A very special uncle, JC Reid.
He leaves to cherish fond memories five children Alice (Melvin) Daniels of St. Louis, Mo., Cheryl (Ricky) Lowery of Cheraw, SC, Thornell (Savannah) Mack Jr. of Bennettsville, SC, Deltoine Mack of Charlotte, NC, and Angela Mack of Long Beach, CA; one daughter-in-law: Thelma Ford of Chesterfield, SC; Four grandchildren he raised: William, Shaun, Bobby, and Robbie Mack; three sisters: Maggie Pearl Mobley of Charlotte, NC, Linda Gail Collier-Davis of Hampton, VA and Kim (Charles) Barnes of Savannah, GA; five in-laws: James Gillespie, Rev. Nathaniel (Mary) Dunn, Daisy Dunn Bethea, Betty Dunn, Ruth D. Little, and Thomas (Georgia) Dunn; 14 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
A very loving, kind, special friend and caretaker, Lanae Armstead along with her family and two little special ones he took as his own grandchildren: Ayden Simms and Rodney ‘Peanut’ Armstead-Clemmons.
