Shannon Grant Ward

October 25, 1970 – January 9, 2020

Shannon Grant Ward, 49, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, the 9th of January 2020 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate surrounded by her family.

Shannon was born on the 25th of October 1970 to Vernon Leigh Grant and the late Patricia Ann Braddy Grant.  Shannon never did like the cold weather, so it seems fitting she was ready to go to paradise in these cold days. She once said, that people prepare for days in advance when they are going on vacation and that we should be living our lives the same. We should be preparing and getting ready for our trip to Heaven while we’re here. She made sure that everyone saw Jesus in her because she knew that was the best way to bring everyone she loved with her to her final destination.

She sure was smart and crafty because she had each and every one of us believing we were her favorite. That was just her gift, she had a way of making you feel like you were so important and special. She was everyone’s go-to person….she was fighting a battle of her own and still took the time to help us all fight ours. Wow! What a warrior!

The Ward family will greet friends and family from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 PM on Monday, the 13th of January 2020 at Mulberry Baptist Church, 6450 Tuckaseegee Rd., Charlotte, NC  28214.   A Service to celebrate her life will follow at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.  Bearing the casket of Shannon Ward will be her family: Brandon Batts, Brandon Grant, Cole Grant, Tyler Spain, Jay & Jamie Callahan, and Eric & Shean Robinson.

Shannon is survived by her husband, Peter Thomas Ward, Jr.; her father, Vernon Leigh Grant and his wife, Ava Grant; her daughter, Morgan Spain and her husband, Tyler; her precious granddaughter, Reagan Spain; her two sisters and one brother: Sherri Medlin and her husband, Richard; Brandon Grant and his wife, Nadia and Shai Batts and her husband, Brandon; her nine nieces and nephews: Hannah & Holli Medlin, Paisley & Cole Grant, Grant Batts, Jamie & Amanda Callahan, and Jay & Jordan Callahan.

I am a former colleague of Shai’s at Hendrick Automotive Group. I followed Shannon’s progress through Shai and when I retired, thru Facebook. It was so awesome that Shannon and her family had such a gift with The Lord the He allowed them some solace, that even though she has departed this earthly body, she is now at His right hand in our heavenly kingdom. RIP Shannon.

I was so sorry to hear about Shannon. I met her at Arlington Church. She was such a sweet and caring person and was always more concerned with others who were sick. You would have never guessed that she was the one fighting a major illness. She was God’s light to others and I know she is rejoicing in heaven.
Praying for her family.

Ms. Ward-oh how I’ve been thinking of you. I’ve been searching your name-hoping that nothing comes up. When I went to check on you today, I see that you’ve passed on into the kingdom of heaven. You are someone I will not forget and your words of encouragement to me a few weeks ago are ones that I will hold near to my heart forever. When my days at work get rough, I’ll remember what you said and push on for you. I’ll keep my caring heart-just like I promised. To Ms. Wards family and friends-I only knew her for a few days and I grew to love her so much. I send you all my love and prayers. She loved you all so much. Rest In Peace sweet angel.
