Ronald “Ron” Richardson, 72, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Friday, the 26th of January 2018 at the Salisbury Veterans Medical Center. Ron was born on the 5th of July 1945 in Charlotte, NC, one of two children to Charles J. Richardson and Eleta Pitman Richardson. He was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School and the University of North Carolina – Charlotte. Ron served his country proudly in the United States Army in Vietnam. In 1970 he began a career with Mechanical Equipment Co. in Matthews where he served as Vice President and Treasurer for the company for more than twenty-five years before his retirement. Ron loved to travel and to attend Broadway Musicals, Museums, and Churches. In 1973 he joined the Charlotte Choral Society, which is now Carolina Voices and many people would comment on his beautiful tenor voice. He was awarded the St. Nick Award in 1990, which is awarded to members recognizing his leadership, support and commitment. He was a faithful member and volunteer of the Carolina Voice until his health declined. Ron was a member of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church and was a former member of Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, the 30th of January 2018 at Ellington Funeral Services. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 2:00 PM in the Historic Morehead St. Chapel at the funeral home. Private burial will be held in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. Ron is survived by his father, Charles J. Richardson of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Carol Richardson Dudley and husband, Dennis of Belmont, NC; his two nephews: Chaz Dudley and wife, Ashleigh of Huntersville, NC and Sean Dudley and wife, Sarah of Gastonia, NC and one great-nephew, Brayden Dudley and his faithful miniature schnauzer companion, “Lee”. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Eleta P. Richardson and a nephew, Eric Dudley.
