Patrick Gavin Davis passed away after a brave battle with cancer, in Huntersville, North Carolina on March 27th, 2018. He was a true loud Irishman with a love of family, a good shenanigan and Jameson’s Irish whiskey. In fact, he loved the drink so much that he named most of his canine companions after the whiskey.
Pat married the love of his life, Virginia “Ginger” Beatrice in 1970, after meeting her in Indianapolis. He was a loyal husband for 43 years until she passed away in 2013. We take comfort knowing that they are dancing in heaven. The couple raised two daughters, Laurie and Kate, and a son, Chris. Pat had five amazing grandchildren, Samantha, Camille, Ivy Margaret, Benjamin, and Olive.
Pat’s spirit had a wonderful balance of beauty and grit. He was a perfectionist, great decorator, foodie and as the song says he was, “a sharp dressed man.” His character intermingled the finer things in life with a passion for loud race cars and the smell of burning rubber on pit row. An avid racing fan, of both open wheel and stock cars, he passed along his love of the track to daughter, Kate.
Pat, who never met a stranger, spent over 40 years in the sales industry as a regional manager for brands such as Carrier, Whirlpool,
and Amana. He and Ginger worked hard and raised their family in Concord, California. Pat and Ginger retired in 2009 to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to be closer to their daughter, Kate.
The Davis family will receive family and friends Tuesday, April 3rd from 12:00 pm EDT until 2:00 p.m. EDT at Ellington Funeral Home immediately followed by a memorial service in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Patrick’s name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, Levine Cancer Institute or the Humane Society of Charlotte.
