Ourania “Nia” Daise Patronis, 86, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, the 2nd of April, 2021.
Nia was born in Hriso, Evrytania, Greece on the 15th of July, 1934 to the late Dimitrios and Polixeni Daise.
Nia immigrated to the United States in 1968 with her husband and children. She loved to garden, cook, and spend time with her family. During Christmas, she and her sister Frances would get together, bake Greek pastries and give them out to friends and family. Nia loved being with her grandchildren, as helping to raise them brought her lots of joy.
Nia worked at her sister and brother-in-law’s restaurant, Jake’s Restaurant, uptown Charlotte for 30 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and volunteered annually at the Greek Festival.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George Patronis, sister and best friend, Frances, and brothers in law Jim Pistolis and John Kontopanos.
The Patronis family will greet friends 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM, Thursday, the 8th of April, 2021 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. The burial and waiting upon the Resurrection will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Ourania is survived by her son, Jim Patronis; daughter, Effie Halas and her husband, Carl; grandson, Michael Halas and granddaughter, Nina Breed and her husband, Austin; her brother, Sam Daise, and wife, Carol of Mt. Calm, TX, her sisters: Voula Kontopanos, Litsa Tsoukas, and brother-in-law, Thanasi of Karpenisi, Greece and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece.
