A son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend. Nerick Moise Lufungula, 30, tragically passed away on Thursday, the 21st of January, 2021. Moise was born on the 17th of June, 1990, in Kinshasa, DRC to the late Lufungula Christophe and Romaine Sawuna Makar Lufungula.

Nerick was a 2008 graduate of Zebulon B. Vance High School, in Charlotte, NC. During his high school year, he took on the infamous role as the coach’s assistant, where he became well known with different sports and students throughout the school.

Nerick’s heart was full of love, always giving and uplifting those around him. He enjoyed bike riding, spending quality time with his family when he wasn’t working, and being adventurous and trying new things.

Nerick began his career as a police officer with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in 2019. He spoke of high admiration when it came to becoming a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer. If there’s one thing that Moise held dearly to his heart it was his badge. Nerick will be remembered for his determination and hard work in everything he has done.

To know Nerick is to know that he was always smiling, always fascinated in trying new things, and always wanting people to come together and enjoy each other’s company. He was a source of light in any dark situation. A strong and courageous man, Nerick was always there for everybody.

Nerick is survived by his mother Romaine Sawuna Makar Lufungula; many siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends in many different parts of the world. He is preceded in death by his father, Lufungula Christophe.

Visitation

The Lufungula family will greet friends and family at a visitation from 10 AM until 12 PM, Friday, the 29th of January, 2021 in the Historic Morehead Street Chapel of Ellington Funeral Services, 727 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Services

A funeral service to honor the life of Nerick will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday the 30th of January, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 301 South Davidson Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.

Graveside Services

Graveside services for Nerick will immediately follow the funeral service at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, 1504 W Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262.
