Mildred Penley Bowman

December 7, 1934 – October 5, 2019

Mildred Penley Bowman, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, the 5th of October, 2019 at Legacy Heights Memory Care Charlotte, N.C.

Mildred was born in Lenior, NC, to the late Cindy and Jonah Grayson Penley. She worked with Package Products where after 30 years of service she retired to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren and to volunteer at her church.

Her greatest passion was spending time with family, having family meals, and serving her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed working in her yard gardening and growing the most beautiful flowers, cooking, and baking some of the best cakes you would ever eat.

Mildred is survived by her three children: John (Debbie) Bowman of Duluth, GA; Bonita (Ken) Rodden of Monroe, NC; and Bryan L. Bowman of Charlotte, NC; her sister Maggie Sue McLendon of Stanley, NC; and brother Claude Penley or Morganton, NC. Grandchildren: Austin (Valentina) Bowman, Seth Bowman, Jeremy (Morgan) Rodden; and great-grandchildren: Maxima Bowman, and Levi Rodden. She is also survived by lots of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law whom she loved and enjoyed spending family time with.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arnold Dale Bowman, her parents, brothers Elmer Penley (Pete),  Frank Penley, Ransom Penley, Albert Penley (Buzz),  and sister Hildred Penley.

The Bowman family will receive friends Wednesday, the 9th of October, 2019 from 1:00 – 3:00 at Calvary Baptist Church 10301 Harwood Lane, Charlotte, N.C. 28214. A funeral service will immediately follow also at the Calvary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
