Darcus Paysour

May 29, 1931 – April 26, 2020

Darcus Paysour was born on the 29th of May, 1931 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Lloyd Moore and late Cora Huddleston Fernandez. Trix, as she was affectionately known, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, the 26th of April, 2020 at 12:40 pm at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving children.

She was born in Cleveland County and went to Crest High School in Shelby NC.  Darcus met her late husband Richard Albert Paysour from Gastonia NC and married. Together they raised three loving children.  Her youngest daughter Dena Paysour (Lisa) of Charlotte NC, Marcus Paysour of Charlotte NC, and Richard Paysour Jr. (Ashanti) of Shelby NC are left to cherish her memories forever.

She found great joy in being a Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt, and Friend to many. She chose to stay at home to raise her children and ensure they had the guidance and love necessary to take with them in life.  Her friends became family and her heart was always open to many. No matter how she felt physically she was able to give so much laughter and joy to others.  One of the ways of her doing this was through her signature “poot” kiss.  This was the kiss that she gave her kids growing up.  It gave her so much joy to see people’s faces light up after receiving the “poot” kiss. She loved telling stories of her life with her husband and how they danced and lived life like a constant honeymoon. As former Ms. Holly Oak Park Beauty Pageant Queen, she liked to talk about how she made her own bathing suit and wore 5-inch heels for the pageant. She had a way of making a stranger feel like an old friend.

Darcus was an amazing artist, interior designer, loved doing floral arrangements and she made the best meals and baked the best cakes. Her laughter was contagious and she had the best sense of humor. She was the family glue and her favorite thing was hearing, talking, and being around family. She will be cherished and loved by many!

Darcus is lovingly survived by many sisters and two brothers-in-law that stepped in like brothers: Texas, Shirlee, Betty (Bennie), and Mary (Bernard).  Wallace (Barbara) & Eugene Paysour.

I’m sorry for your loss Dena. She was such a wonderful person. I loved her beautiful smile..and that laugh! She was a great roommate for mom. We all loved her dearly. Her “poot” kisses will be missed.

To Rickey, Dena, Marcus and family please know that you are in our prayers. Aunt Trix has and always will bring a smile of gratitude and joy. Some of my fondest childhood memories are those we shared in your home running from Aunt Trix with a racetrack in her hand. I LOVE you all and I am eternally greatful for God blessing us all with her in our lives. She may be physically gone but never far from my heart and my children’s hearts and minds. Love always!
